Annual MLC Audit Success
Dominion Marine’s crew management division based in St Helier, Jersey are delighted to have once again sailed smoothly through their annual MLC Inspection which was conducted ‘virtually’ by Lloyds Register earlier this month.
The leading employer of superyacht crew continues to go from strength to strength, year on year – Dominion Marine Group Director Simon Roberts commented:
Whilst none of us saw what was coming in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lock down throughout Europe, our staff adapted incredibly well in such a short space of time. We made the decision to close the office on the 20th March and, like similar businesses, the concerns were there from the start as to how we would successfully run crew payrolls for 100+ superyachts on time whilst working from home, taking in to account the next payroll was only days away.
Thankfully the ongoing investment in to our software technology, security and overall infrastructure allowed our staff to quickly adapt to working remotely which in turn ensured all crew received their salaries on time. Special thanks also go out to our banking and software partners whose systems have integrated and performed so well in a quickly evolving environment.
Remote working seems to have become the 'new normal' in so many businesses right now, so when we approached Lloyds Register in relation to our annual MLC audit to support the fleet of commercial superyachts we provide these services to, the suggestion for a 'virtual audit' was welcomed with open arms and we successfully passed without any deficiencies or observations being noted.
